The Ely Area

Proud to have earned the 2012 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, we are looking forward to extending you a warm welcome to our special corner of  Nevada, known as the heart of the Golden West. Whether you’re headed in our direction for outdoor recreation, historical or natural attractions, on business appointments, for a meeting or for a convention, we trust you will find our hotel to be an ideal base. We have guest rooms with mountain views, a heated indoor pool with spa pool and a fitness center. A free Bright Side Breakfast® is served daily by the Great Room with an indoor fireplace and a lovely outdoor patio fire pit for enjoying starry Nevada evenings. Those traveling with pets are most welcome.

In the days of the pony express, Ely grew as a stop on the stagecoach run nestled between Utah’s Wasatch Mountains and the Sierra Nevada range. Copper was discovered in 1906, and it’s still part of our modern story, as is tourism. Modern visitors are taken with the Ghost Train of Old Ely, preserved as a heritage railway. This is White Pine County, named for the trees commonly found in our mountains of the Great Basin National Park, near the Utah border. Nevada’s highest summit at more than 13,000 feet, Wheeler Peak, is located here, complete with sunken gardens and the Lehman Caves. Humboldt National Forest and Ward Mountain Recreation Area are both only six miles away and the University of Nevada is practically on our doorstep.

Hotel Services and Amenities

Wake up to a healthy and hearty free Bright Side Breakfast with hot and cold selections served daily by our friendly staff. Keep in touch using free local calls, free high-speed Internet access, or by tuning in to the 32” flat screen TV in every guest room and suite. Relax before our fireplace or enjoy our pool and fitness room. You can travel light, as we provide an in-room microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer and iron with ironing board. Down the hall, a guest laundry facility is available at a modest fee. At the end of a fun and busy day, you’ll find 10 restaurants within a mile or so, including some which are adjacent, so you can leave your car in our parking lot, which is always free.

Ely Attractions

Join us for some old fashioned fun. We’ve got McGill Drugstore Museum where products half a century old still sit on the shelves. A soda fountain with stools brings back the good old days while a soda jerk awaits you at the counter. There are working steam and diesel locomotives complete with cabooses which you can learn to operate yourself on the Nevada Northern Railway. The East Ely Railroad Depot features an old telegraph office, and how about a train robbery re-enactment? Visit the White Pine Public Museum for a look at 300 types of locally mined minerals and rocks, a historic Hesselgesser doll collection, and more. Don’t forget the local casinos and fun times on Cave Lake or at McGill Pool, so bring a swimsuit along and a bit of good luck.
